A MAN who claimed he had the coronavirus as he attacked two Taunton police officers has been spared a jail sentence.
Aaron Cryer, aged 28, of no fixed address was sentenced at Taunton Magistrates Court on Wednesday, April 22.
He was charged for two counts of assault by beating against a police officer acting in their function as an emergency worker.
Cryer assaulted two police officers in the execution of their duty, one male and one female, and said he had Covid-19.
The incident happened on Wednesday, April 1.
Taunton magistrates sentenced Cryer to 14 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, ordered him to undertake 100 hours of unpaid work, attend rehabilative activity requirement, and pay £50 compensation.
