CHARD Fire Station has closed to the public as fears over the coronavirus pandemic spread.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue took to social media to confirm that the station, which is in Avishayes Road, was closed to all but staff.
The statement said: "Due to the coronavirus pandemic, access to this station is now restricted to staff only.
"This is because we need to protect our frontline staff and are now cancelling all community events and visits.
"We apologise for the inconvenience and will be reviewing the situation for future events and visits.
"Thank you for your understanding."
Elsewhere, Martock Fire Station has also shut to the public.
