UPDATE: 9am: A lane on the northern carriageway of the M5 between junctions 24 (Bridgwater) and 23 (Bridgwater North, Glastonbury and Wells) remains closed while recovery work is carried out after the crash.
The southern carriageway is fully open.
TWO crashes - one in either direction - have brought the M5 in Somerset to a standstill.
Lanes are closed on both the northbound and southbound carriageways of the motorway between junctions 24 (for Bridgwater) and 23 (for Bridgwater north, Glastonbury and Wells).
The lane closures are causing a build up of traffic in both directions.
A Highways England spokesperson said: "Traffic was briefly held earlier, both sides have different accidents."
