A TREEHOUSE set deep in the Somerset countryside may sound like a child's fantasy play den.

But just such a place is a reality for everyone - and you can take a break from the bustle of modern life by booking a stay.

The Treehouse, at Halse, gives guests a cosy stay in a unique self-catering property close to Exmoor and the beaches of West Somerset and Devon, while upholding eco-friendly values for the sustainable traveller.

"The Treehouse is every inner child’s dream house brought to life with a tiled wooden exterior blending in with the leafy canopy above," said a spokesperson for getaways website, www.independentcottages.co.uk.

"The uniqueness of the property is seen throughout with a spiral staircase reaching up through the middle of the home and a warm log burning stove heating up the space."

The property was built and designed to blend in seamlessly with its surroundings, the spokesperson said, using eco-friendly, natural materials.

"All the heating is provided by a biomass boiler that uses renewable wood chips rather than more polluting alternatives such as gas or oil," they said.

"Throughout the home eco-friendly cleaning products are used and the furniture and linen are sourced from companies within the UK to support local trade."
