THE identity of a man is being sought after a fatal crash near Bridgwater. 

Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for help after a cyclist died in a crash.

The incident took place near Robbery Wood, Stockland Bristol at around 5.40pm this evening (January 20), involving a cyclist and a bus.

The cyclist had no identification with him at the time of the crash, so police are now asking for help to find out who he is. 

The road remains closed while an investigation takes place. 

A spokesperson said: "We have closed a road in the Bridgwater area following a fatal collision this evening.

"The incident happened on a minor road at Robbery Wood near Stockland Bristol at about 5.40pm.

"A cyclist was in collision with a bus.

"The cyclist received treatment at the scene but sadly died shortly afterwards.

"The road remains closed pending a detailed examination of the scene by collision investigators.

"We need your help to try to identify the cyclist, who did not have any identification with him.

"He is described as a white man with grey hair, believed to be in his 50s. He is unshaven with stubble growth of a few days.

"He is wearing a red and blue zip-up jumper and dark coloured jeans with brown boots. He is wearing a watch with a black strap and silver face and had with him a white construction site-style hard hat.

"His bike is a white and blue Kona Cindercone mountain bike.

"We would like anyone who recognises the person described above to contact us immediately.
