A FAMILIAR face will be back in Taunton Town colours, as the Peacocks take on Paulton Rovers in the Southern League Challenge Cup tie tonight (7.30pm).

Owen Irish "has signed forms and will again pull on the Peacocks strip tomorrow", according to the Taunton website.

Centre-back Irish joined the club in 2008 and spent nine seasons at Wordsworth Drive - making more than 300 appearances - before falling out of favour and leaving for Tiverton Town in November 2017.

Irish looks set to be joined by a several Bridgwater & Taunton College students in tonight's Peacocks side, as head of football rotates his squad after a busy New Year period.

Nick Grimes and Andrew Neal, taken off as precautionary measures against Gosport Borough on Saturday, will miss out.

Taunton have seen off Willand Rovers (on penalties), Bideford (5-2) and Truro City (again on penalties, 13-12!) to reach this third round stage.

Paulton - who play one tier below the Peacocks - have beaten Premier sides Salisbury and Weston-super-Mare to progress, annihilating a young Weston side 12-1.

Rovers have lost their last three league games, however.

The winners of tonight's match will entertain either Winchester City or Sholing in the quarter-finals.
