TWELVE years on from the first read through, Canalmania is ready for rehearsals to begin.

It will be performed at Chard and District Museum as part of the celebrations of 50 years since the museum opened.

The play, written by Philippa Glastonvill, is inspired by the history and geography of Chard and considers the future possibilities of the town.

It is about the construction of Chard canal and looks at Chard’s relationship with the rise of sea levels.

Philippa said: “I am really excited to be collaborating with Chard and district Museum by producing this play in the year they celebrate 50 years.”

Vince Lean, the chairman of Chard museum, is delighted for the opportunity to expand the use of the museum for an arts project, especially as the play is based on the history of Chard.

If you are interested in being involved, a read through of the play will be upstairs in Eleos in Chard at 7.30pm on Wednesday, January 29.To find out more email dogeatscloud@hotmail.com
