LAST weekend's Invest SouthWest Taunton Saturday League action saw FC Castlemoat consolidate their position at the top of Division 1, with an emphatic 6-1 victory at Galmington.

Ross Burford was clinical for Moat, notching a hat-trick, with Luciano Alves De Jesus, Thiago Alipio Ferreira Covre and Chris Mckee rounding off the scoring for the visitors.

They are now six points ahead of nearest challengers Westonzoyland.

Elsewhere, Wellington A fought back from 2-0 down at home to Wembdon Reserves, only to lose out 3-2 in the end.

Jack Goddard (2) and Andrew Skidmore earned the points for Wembdon, with Tom Scarlett and Joey Conway replying.

With that result, Wellington drop down to second in Division 2 - Bridgwater Sports moving ahead of them at the summit.

Sunday brought a Somerset Women's League Cup humdinger at Bishops Lydeard, with their Ladies Development side being edged out 5-4 by Burnham United Ladies.

Caitlin Berry (2), Jodie Dingle and Kayleigh Riley got the goals for Lydeard, but Vanessa Brill (2), Caitlin Stevens and Vicky Wilson were among the goals for Burnham as they went through.
