Uhlsport Somerset County League
Division 1
Yatton & Cleeve United 1, Burnham United 1

BURNHAM United missed the chance to return to the top of the table, after drawing 1-1 at Yatton & Cleeve United on Saturday.

Curtis Bradshaw hit the crossbar after turning the Yatton defender inside five minutes, and it didn’t take long for Bradshaw to open his account, after linking up with Ryan Stiles.

Stiles then had a goal disallowed for offside and Jamie Merrick came close to doubling the Seasiders' lead just before half-time.

The hosts put pressure on throughout the second half, but Charlie Harding came close at the other end, hitting the bar from 25 yards midway through the half.

Just when it looked like Burnham had held on, Will Francis' last-minute strike from a free-kick gave Yatton a share of the points.

They didn't have to wait long after the break, though, as their efforts were rewarded with a strike from Josh Watkins.

Harrison Givens came off the bench and soon made his mark, making it 3-0, and Watkins scored his second of the game with 10 minutes left, to give Burnham a comfortable 4-0 win.

Third round
Burnham United A 2, Fry Club C 2 (4-2 pen)

BURNHAM A started their county cup tie strongly and should have been 3-0 up in the first 10 minutes, but were made to pay for not scoring when Fry Club took an early lead.

The home side regrouped and continued to push forward; a goal from Harvey Barnshaw levelled it up, then a fantastic 35-yard effort from Rhys Ford put them ahead just before half-time.

Burnham looked to finish the tie off in the second half, but Frys equalised, which took the game to penalties.

Home goalkeeper Steve Bailey saved two penalties, allowing Dan Gibblet to score the winning spot-kick and send the Seasiders into the fourth round.
