THE top prize at Chard Children’s Carnival had to be shared after the top two contestants could not be split.

Paint A Picture by Georgia Hounsell also won the best single entry six to 18 year old class and best local entry, while the other overall champion, Hakuna Matata by Kai Newberry, secured the best walking federation entry.

Freddie Adams, entering as Fred the Penguin, won best single entry up to five years old, Pearly King and Pearly Queen by Lana and Mason Suckling received best pair, and the best group of three or more was handed to 1st Chard Beavers for their Go Green entry.

The top wheeled entry and spirit of canirval both went to Sunshine Stars CC’s Carousel, the winning school was Manor Court, and the best motorised federation entry prise was also split - Juniors Reloaded CC and Generations CC taking home top honours.

Most colourful was given to Parrot Paradise by Bethany Cope, and Showtime by Alexander and Jasmine Farley took home two prizes, mayor’s choice and royalty choice.

A spokesman said: “A huge thank you to all those who took part in Chard Children’s Carnival. We had 22 fantastic entries and it was a great start to carnival day.”
