ENJOY an evening of vintage jazz with the ever-popular Mike Denham at the piano.

For this concert he will be joined by swing violinist Emma Fisk.

Emma is a specialist in hot club/gypsy jazz, classic jazz and swing styles and was inspired to become a professional violinist after hearing and meeting Nigel Kennedy and Stephane Grappelli.

She has received critical acclaim both for her spirited gypsy jazz performances, and her interpretations of early jazz violin master, Joe Venuti’s music.

She has played with many top UK and international players including Jeff Barnhart, Remi Harris, Spats Langham, and Enrico Tomasso.

Mike Denham is of course well known on the west country jazz scene and together they offer a fine evening of jazz for the connoisseur.

Mike Denham discovered jazz at university and, for years, juggled a career as a chemical engineer with band and solo performances. Ragtime was Mike Denham’s first love, and he has performed rags at every opportunity – from St Pancras Station concourse to concert venues including London’s Purcell Room.

The evening will be supporting Bridgwater Hospital League of Friends.

You can enjoy music from Mike Denham and Emma Fisk at Cossington Village Hall, Trivetts Way, Cossington, TA7 8JN on Saturday, October 12 at 8pm.

Seats can be reserved and cost £10 from host Roger Collett. To reserve call 01278 451187 or email rogercollett.sounds@talktalk.net
