A 77-YEAR-OLD woman has completed an adrenaline-filled task for charity.

Daredevil Marion Mizen, of Holway Park, Ilminster, got strapped on top of an aeroplane to carry out a wingwalk - while her family watched anxiously from the ground.

Marion was inspired to take part in the hair-raising activity after being inspired by the annoying opera singing on the GoCompare adverts.

Her apprehension was growing as her slots to take part were being pushed back - but she snapped up the chance to get it done this month.

“It was really really good,” she said.

“It all went fine and there were lots of other people there, watching and having their turn.”

Marion was joined by her daughter and granddaughter, who were left biting their nails while she took her turn.

She said: “My daughter was in tears and feeling sick before I went up.

“I said ‘shouldn’t this be the other way around’, but once it was done she felt better.

“It was only meant to be for ten minutes but my daughter said it felt like much longer.”

Marion has been raising money for RSPCA West Hatch where she volunteered for three years and loved caring for the animals.

Staff there are ‘thrilled to bits’ that she is taking on the challenge for them.

The full collection has not yet taken place, but she is hoping to have raised a couple hundred.

Is this the last of her adrenaline-junkie adventures?

Marion said she wasn’t sure, as she’s set to turn 79 next year and isn’t sure if she’d be up for it.

But she added she did quite fancy taking on the zip wire over the Eden Project - so watch this space.
