THE Somerset branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild is keeping it local with its latest exhibition, which opens at Ilminster Arts Centre this October.

Entitled My Locality, the show takes it inspiration from the world just around us – nature, architecture, industry and more.

The exhibition offers a fascinating opportunity not only to see stitch craft of the highest quality, but also to see many different aspects of South Somerset interpreted in fabric and thread.

A range of different techniques and styles will be on view, providing a source of inspiration and fascination for visitors, whether they are embroiderers or not.

Chard & Ilminster News:

The exhibition is timed to coincide with the Arts Centre’s biannual Antique and Vintage Textiles Fair, which takes place on Wednesday, October 23.

The Embroiderers’ Guild is a national organisation that welcomes everyone with an interest in any area of embroidery and members are encouraged to participate at any level, whether young people learning to stitch, a professional artist extending the boundaries of textile art, or someone who simply appreciates fabric and thread.

The Embroiderers’ Guild exists to build awareness of stitch and textile art and educates, inspires, and promotes the achievement of excellence.

The My Locality exhibition starts on Monday, October 7 and runs until October 26. Admission to the exhibition is free.
