FIREFIGHTERS were called to a fire on the M5 between Burnham and Bridgwater last night (Monday).
The Fire Control sent two crews from Bridgwater to the scene, between junctions 23 (Burnham/Wells/Glastonbury) and 24 (Bridgwater) of the southbound carriageway at around 7.45pm.
"Once the crew got in attendance the officer in charge confirmed this to be one vehicle well alight on the hard shoulder of the M5," said a Devon ad Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson.

"The crew got to work to extinguish the fire with the use of two breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets.
"The vehicle had 50% damage due to the fire and the cause of this fire is believed to be accidental."
Meanwhile, later in the evening, fire crews also attended an incident on the northbound carriageway which saw the motorway closed overnight.
