FAST food chain McDonald's has moved a step closer to setting up in the cafe at Asda.
The cafe in the supermarket in Creechbarrow Road, Taunton, is set to close in October.
And it will be replaced by a McDonald's.
A planning application has now been submitted to Somerset West and Taunton Council for a free standing totem sign to be installed in the car park.
If approved, the sign would be 4.5 metres high.
It is not known when the McDonald's would open.
There are already two McDonald's restaurants in Taunton - one in East Street, the other the drive through outlet at Hankridge Farm.
The fast food chain has installed its golden arches signs at a number of Asda stores across the country.
