A SEVEN-bedroom home where vicars had lived for more than 700 years is on the market at £749,950.

The former vicarage at St Mary Magdalene Church in the centre of Taunton boasts a wealth of period features, large gardens and parking.

As well as the seven bedrooms, it also comprises an entrance hall, three living rooms, dining room, two kitchens, utility room, walk-in larder, cloakroom, two store rooms and two bathrooms.

The property had served as a vicarage from 1308, although it has been much altered down the ages, with most of the existing house dating from the 16th and 17th centuries. The vending agent says it is in need of modernisation.

The Rev Rod Corke, who was the vicar until May of last year, was the last vicar to live there.

The Rev Tobie Osmund, who will take over as vicar next month, will live in a new vicarage on the site of the former Glebe House, previously the curate's home.

A garage adjoining the vicarage is not included in the sale - it is being retained by the Church and will be gifted to the parish.

The property is on the market through Robert Cooney
