A PROLIFIC thief has been banned from entering shops while he awaits sentencing for six offfences of shoplifting.

Carl Dean Gregory, 42, of York Road, Taunton, admitted nine counts of theft when he appeared at Taunton Magistrates' Court on Friday.

He admitted stealing:

*multiple items of chldren's clothing from Mark & Spencer, Taunton, on August 23;

*a Mira shower unit worth £200 from B&Q, Taunton, on August 11;

*multiple items of clothing valued at £40 from Primark, Taunton, on July 25;

*multiple items of meat valued at £34.73 from Tesco Express, Taunton, on July 28;

*multiple chidren's toys worth £40 from The Entertainer, Tauntron, on July 29;

*multiple items of meat valued at £135.20 from Marks & Spencer BP Service Station, Norton Fitzwarren, on July 31;

*clothing worth £117 from Marks & Spencer, Taunton, on May 1;

*various items of food to the value of £75.40 from the Co-op, Bishop's Hull, on May 24;

*items valued at £299.99 from Homesense, Taunton, on June 19.

Gregory was bailed to appear before magistrates on Friday (September 6).

Under the conditions of bail, he is barred from entering shops or other retails premises except for the pharmacy at Blackbrook Surgery and must live and sleep every night at a home in York Road, Taunton.
