AN unwanted dog rescued after being abandoned tied to a hay bale is desperately looking for someone who will never leave her alone ever again.

Hazel, a lurcher, was covered in painful sores and was so thin her bones could be seen when she was discovered in a field on a footpath between Puckington and Ilminster in March.

She was taken to RSPCA West Hatch Animal Centre to begin her journey of recovery and rehabilitation.

The charity appealed for information to try and find who left her in desperate need of help but has been unable to trace her previous owner.

After months of treatment and lots of tender loving care from the team at the rescue centre she has now recovered and is ready to find her perfect match.

Anita Clark, deputy centre manager at West Hatch, said: "We will never know what has happened in her past, but this beautiful girl is the most genteel lady you could wish to meet.

"She trots gracefully beside you on a lead, she is spotlessly clean and she adores human companionship.

"She is also very at home on a comfy sofa. Sadly Hazel suffers from extreme separation distress when she is left alone, even for a very short time, and this is making it very hard for us to find her a new home.

"We have the full support of a great APBC-qualified behaviourist, who will guide a new family through every step of her rehabilitation, but while her training is underway she cannot be left alone at all which understandably is very hard for most people.

"We are really hoping there is someone out there who might just have the time, patience, compassion and lifestyle to help Hazel through this. We just know the reward will be immense.”
