JUST under 1,000 people assembled at Chard Town FC to see a team of Arsenal legends and celebrities take on a group of local fundraisers.

The day was held in support of Chard babyloss charity Single Yellow Rose, and saw more than £6,000 raised for good causes.

From the grand total, 30 per cent will go to the Arsenal Foundation charity, with the rest of the profits staying in Chard.

Single Yellow Rose was founded by husband and wife Daisy and Lee Hutchings after their daughter, Belle, was stillborn at 35 weeks.

After the game, Daisy said: “I just want to firstly thank every single one of you who attended, helped and was involved in our biggest event so far.

“The day was the most overwhelming event we have done so far. Not only was it Lee’s biggest dream to play against an Arsenal team, it raised money and awareness for babyloss.”

The match saw a minute’s silence held beforehand to remember babies who were stillborn or died prematurely.

Overall, £6,043.95 was raised for charity.

Daisy added: “We can now do bigger things to help the families who are dealing with the loss of their baby.”

The Arsenal side started the game playing downhill and took a 2-0 lead into half time.

The second half was a closely fought affair, and the home side won a penalty late on.

Up stepped captain Lee Hutchings, who smashed it into the top corner to make the score 3-1.

The charity’s next fundraising event is their annual Belle’s Ball, this year set for October 6.
