PLANS to build 94 homes have been revealed for a Chard field sandwiched between two other massive planning applications.

Summerfield Homes is running a pre-application consultation for a field off Tatworth Road, south of Chard, which includes artist’s impressions and a site map for the potential new build.

It is bordered to the north by a site with a full planning application for 200 homes which was approved in February.

Land to the south east is subject to a planning application by Persimmon Homes for 315 dwellings.

A spokesman for Summerfield Homes said: “The site is allocated for residential development within the Chard Eastern Development Area (CEDA) which is planned to deliver new housing, employment land and neighbourhood centres together with associated infrastructure, as set out in the South Somerset Local Plan.

“The development of the site will complete the development of this area of the CEDA and will contribute towards housing delivery within Chard.”

The site will have a range of homes, from one-bed apartments to four-bed houses. A percentage of properties will be affordable units - expected to be 25 to 30 per cent.

Summerfield is based in Taunton and has been building housing and commercial properties for more than 100 years.

The development is allocated as Flood Zone 1, which is the least susceptible to flooding.

The spokesman added: “The proposed surface water drainage strategy accounts for run-off from all storms up to the 100 year return period, ensuring the development will be safe from flooding throughout its lifetime and will not increase flood risk elsewhere."
