POLLING cards for the elections for district, town and parish councils on May 2 will be arriving on Sedgemoor doormats over the next few days.

Sedgemoor District Council is advising residents to check their poll card to make sure they know which polling station they need to use on May 2 as some locations have changed.

A spokesman for SDC, said: “You can check where your polling station is on-ine at wheredoivote.co.uk after April 1.

“If you don’t receive a poll card, you may not be registered to vote. This needs to be done by Friday, April 12 to make sure that you can have your say at the ballot box.”

Research conducted by YouGov for the Electoral Commission found that:

• 21 per cent of people who rent privately think they’re automatically registered to vote if they pay council tax

• 40 per centof those surveyed think it is not possible to register to vote online in England, Scotland and Wales.

• 69 per cent do not know that the deadline to register to vote which is April 12th, with 13 per cent thinking it is already too late to register.
