ANOTHER attack against Taunton has been launched by a Somerset MP.
Ian Liddell-Grainger, who represents Bridgwater and West Somerset, has once again used his parliamentary privilege to speak poorly of Somerset's county town.
His comments bring up areas of Taunton, claiming something needs be done about 'ghettos ridden of crime'.
He spoke during a House of Commons session on February 7.
MP for Bridgwater, Ian Liddell-Grainger, said: "Eastgate, Blackbrook and Holway are names that will not be known to the leader of the house, but I will tell you, they are the most appalling crime statistics in Somerset. They come within the county town of Taunton.
"We need to have a debate because half of them, and there are 5,000 crimes reported last year, of which very few were cleared up, are violent and sexual and the other part is anti-social.
"This affects my constituency enormously.
"Could we please have time to debate hotspots, that are turning into ghettos of ridden crime, before its too late."
Mr Liddell-Grainger has recently faced backlash over comments comparing Taunton to war-torn Syrian city, Aleppo.
He has since apologised for his comments, but aimed his words at the citizens of Aleppo, instead of Taunton.
MP for Taunton Deane, Rebecca Pow, has not yet responded to a request for a comment.
