THE Killers have been installed as new odds-on favourites to top the bill on the Pyramid Stage at this summer's Glastonbury Festival.

The Las Vegas band is set to hit the road this summer, with US dates confirmed for May, meaning they could well hit the road in Europe in time for the June festival, which runs at Worthy Farm from June 26 to 30.

Bookies 888sport have put the band at 1/2 to top the bill during one night of the event.

South London's Stormzy has already been confirmed as the Friday night Pyramid Stage headliner, with The Cure and Sir Paul McCartney among other rumours.

The Killers headlined the legendary stage once before - in 2007 – although their set was hit by poor weather conditions which saw the sound blown all over the Somerset site.

And they returned for a secret set on the John Peel Stage in 2017, which has reportedly led organisers Emily and Michael Eavis to offer them the headline slot this year.

The move in the market sees The Killers sit beside The Cure (2/5) at the head of the betting for the two remaining headliner slots, with The Strokes (6/4), Artic Monkeys (5/2) and Fleetwood Mac (4/1) also in the running.

An 888sport spokesman said: “’Somebody Told Me’ that The Killers could be on for another Glastonbury headliner slot this year – so we’ve cut our odds after they’ve been well backed.

“Brandon Flowers would certainly be ‘The Man’ for the job, and after a flurry of bets, we think they’re set to light up the Pyramid Stage once again.”
