WORK is progressing to improve pavements in Taunton.
Bridge Street is the first to benefit from a major scheme to improve town centre walkways, being funded by Somerset County Council and Taunton Deane Borough Council (TDBC).
In the coming months work will also be carried out to improve pavements in High Street, Station Road, East Reach and Hammet Street.

Announcing the work, deputy leader of TDBC, Mark Edwards, said: "The council is committed to enhancing the town centre to create a welcoming, pleasant environment for pedestrians which will also benefit our local traders."
