For the first time in nearly a decade residents will have to pay more to park outside their homes in Gloucestershire next year.
Residential parking permits are rising from £50 to £60 for the cost of their first car and from £100 to £120 for the second after plans were approved by the county council today.
This will be the first rise in the cost of permits in eight years for the county's residents - though councillor David Norman, a member of the Conservative-led administration who is responsible for parking, stressed the price still remains lower than in 2011.
Liberal Democrats on the council say the rise makes for "a poor Christmas present from the Conservatives."
