SNOW globes will be bringing a festive feel to homes across the Chard area thanks to a series of workshops held recently.

Celebrating the festive season, Combe St Nicholas Village Hall was the venue for a series of sold-out flower arranging workshops which saw ladies from all over the county making glorious snow globes.

Among participants were Sue Smyth from Combe St Nicholas and, from Wadeford, Kay Pendleton and Sue Hipwood.

Watching a step-by-step demonstration first, they learnt all the techniques needed to create a very classy design using an unusual shaped contemporary glass bowl.

“It was great fun," said Sue.

"This was another fantastic idea for a Christmas gift or a chic decoration for your home. It was so uncomplicated. I was very pleased with mine and thoroughly enjoyed making it."

Kay added: “It was wonderfully simple, but very stylish. I loved it and am very confident I could repeat it."

And Sue said she was delighted with her creation.

“This was an arrangement you needed to take your time making," she said.

"But the end result was definitely worth it, I was absolutely delighted."

Award-winning tutor Jackie Nicholls, from Wadeford-based Ashville Design, who teaches the workshops, said: “This arrangement was designed to be simple to create, but amazing to look at.

"Using only three flowers, foliage, a few accessories - and plenty of patience - the end results were stunning.

“Best of all, this was a beautiful festive gift that I’m sure anyone would love to receive.

"Congratulations to everyone, who, amongst all the fun and laughter we had, produced such wonderful work.”
