TWO entrepreneurial brothers say they say hope to bring ‘something different’ to Burnham-on-Sea as they get ready to open a new restaurant in the town.

Patty x Frank will open in the High Street on Saturday (December 15), serving up everything from succulent steaks and seafood, to indulgent burgers and hot dogs.

The restaurant is the brainchild of Burnham brothers Tolga, 28, and 22-year-old Berk Gunduz and will be employing local students, to train the hospitality staff of the future.

Speaking ahead of the opening, Tolga, said the duo decided to open the restaurant as they hope to provide the town with ‘something different’ which will appeal to families.

“The idea for the restaurant actually came to my brother and I on a Friday afternoon,” Tolga said.

“We decided we wanted to go out for some food but didn’t fancy Chinese or Indian food, we wanted a burger.

“We knew we would have to go to Weston-super-Mare to get it and then we started thinking, 'why can’t we open a burger restaurant in Burnham?'

“Burnham is a lovely place but there are not many places you can go with your family and eat simple and fresh food and we want to offer that.

“Unlike other restaurants we will be giving customers the opportunity to make their own burgers and hot dogs with their choice of meat, bun, toppings and sides.

“We will also be selling milkshakes, cocktails and will be doing catch of the day to try and make things as fresh as possible.”

Tolga said he hopes the restaurant will inject a buzz into Burnham during the winter months - when the summer trade has disappeared - and said he is looking forward to the future.

“In Burnham it tends to be really busy in the summer but really quiet in the winter,” he said.

“My brother and I grew up in east London and there was always a buzz, you could get everything you need on your doorstep, but in Burnham its not the same.

“We are employing local students and we’re also going to be using compostable take-away boxes and paper straws so we don’t impact the environment.

“We want this to be a place where families can feel welcome and we can’t wait to see you all here.”
