WARRENS Bakery in Taunton and Bridgwater will reopen next month after closing in mysterious circumstances.

The stores were closed at the beginning of October due to 'management changes'.

A sign in the window said: "Due to management changes we are temporarily closing our doors.

"Look out for news about our plans very soon.

"Thank you for your ongoing support."

The company was tight-lipped about the closures, offering little explanation.

But the bakery, which opened its Taunton store last October, now says the two closed shops will open again in November.

As well as reopening the bakeries, two new cafes are opening at Musgrove Park Hospital. The South West chain says it is taking over the Whitlock's Restaurant at the hospital, as well as a food outlet in the Beacon Centre.

Hungry travellers will also be able to find something to eat at the new Warrens coming soon to Bristol Airport.

Mark Sullivan, chairman, said: “We are very excited about these sites which, along with our existing stores in Bristol City Centre and Wellington, give us a platform for growth in the region. As an established West Country brand with more than 150 years of tradition and trust, we look forward to taking our handcrafted pasties, sandwiches and sweet treats to locals, who’ve been asking us to set up nearby for years.”

In total 40 jobs will be created.

Jason Jobling, director and chairman of the Cornish Pasty Association, said: “It is exciting to expand throughout the West Country, while driving increased production out of Cornwall.”
