STAFF at a popular Burnham-on-Sea coffee shop were celebrating after it re-opened following an extensive refurbishment.

On Saturday (October 20) scores of visitors packed into Costa on High Street to see the inside of the new store at a special relaunch event.

Coffee-lovers were treated to discounts on drinks and had the chance to taste samples of cakes from their menu.

The store was closed for six days for the revamp which was its first refurbishment in five years.

Gavin King, operations manager of Costa in Burnham, said he is ‘thrilled’ with the store’s new look and praised the staff for their hard work.

“With great pride we are thrilled to announce the refurbishment of our Costa coffee shop in Burnham on Sea high street,” Gavin said,

“Our staff worked hard all day Friday to get the shop ready for the people of Burnham and we reopened Saturday.

“Anita Teilane the store manager led her team through a fabulous day on Saturday with old and new customers who stopped in for a coffee.

“I was personally humbled to hear how many of our loyal customers tell me how much we had been missed during our refurbishment.

“It is fantastic to be back open and looking great on the Burnham high street.”

During the refurbishment part of the eatery’s bar was removed, a new red, grey and creme colour scheme was put in and new furniture and artwork was installed.

Jacob Dear, a regular customer at Costa in Burnham, said the refurbishment has brought ‘ a new lease of life’ to the store and he is looking forward to going there in the future.

“The old Costa coffee was cramped, dark and claustrophobic,” Jacob said.

“It was in a desperate need of a re-fit, it now feels much lighter, more relaxing and definitely more productive.

“I walk in there and feel like I am able to just get on with work in a comfortable environment.

“It caters well to my needs and many others needs.

“Everyone at the store really liked the changes they had made, it looks so much better than it did before.

“I think it will be a nice place for people to come and meet in Burnham-on-Sea.”
