CHILDREN of Ilminster got into the spirit of carnival during the annual event.

The younger residents of the town took part in the Children's Carnival, which took place one week before the big event.

Children got dressed up as colourful characters to take part in their own event.

Young people and youth groups from Ilminster and beyond met at Ile Youth Club from 12.30pm on Saturday (September 29) and the procession started at 1.45pm.

The parade went into East Street, Silver Street, Strawberry Bank, North Street and East Street.

Brad Amor, of the carnival committee, said: "We would like to thank everybody who entered the procession and would like to congratulate everyone on their wonderful entries.

"We all had an enjoyable afternoon and would like to thank the public who lined the streets of Ilminster to show their support for everyone taking part."
