ILMINSTER runner Daniel Cahill stormed home to win the Deane DLO Taunton 10k race.

Daniel, a member of Minster Milers running club, headed the field of around 650 competitors at the event starting and finishing at the Better's Blackbrook Pavilion on Sunday.

He clocked 33 minutes and 45 seconds in his first appearance at the annual race in the county town.

After catching his breath, he told the Chard and Ilminster News: "I was just trying to run a personal best, which I achieved.

"I've put in months of hard training, running 40 or 50 miles a week.

"I'll be back to defend my title next year.

"It's a fantastic race, well organised and well marshalled, with a great group of runners."
