THERE'S good news for people in Chard today as the major resurfacing underway on two of the town's busiest roads, has finished.
Fore Street and High Street had been closed during evenings as Somerset County Council carried out vital works.
Damaged kerbs and water channels were replaced and the existing drainage system upgraded and repaired during prepatory works back in July.
From Monday, August 1, carriageway resurfacing works started, meaning there were road closures in place.
But this morning, the council tweeted that the works have finished and the roads will remain open.
Cllr David Fothergill, Somerset County Council’s cabinet member for Highways, said: "We’re committed to investing in our roads and maintaining them to the highest standards possible with the budgets we have, and I’m sure may people will welcome these improvements.”
