THE Lions Club of Ilminster and District was treated to an informative, enjoyable talk by Kirsty Johnston at its last meeting concerning her trip to Ethiopia.
If you wondered what happened to the used spectacles which are collected by the Lions from various pick up points around the town, Kirsty left members in no doubt that they are put to very good use.
Visiting temporary hospitals set up in various locations, including a vision centre at Butijera where the work of Vision Aid Overseas and various other departments of the hospital left a lasting impression.
Her enthusiasm culminated in participating in the Great Ethiopian Run to help raise more money for Vision Aid Overseas.
Having been chosen to join the expedition Kirsty launched a fundraising program which continues as her incredible experience has left a lasting impression and a wish to carry on raising money for a very worth while cause.
