HOLYROOD Academy students were among those who took part in the Chard Martial Arts Kempo Karate grading last weekend at Kelly Leigh Dance Studios.
Joel Ingerfield, a past student, and Zac Stabbins, who are both black belts, together with James Eaton at brown belt level, assisted Club 7thDan Instructor Neil Hazell to assess over 20 junior students ranging from five to 13 years during the two-hour grading process which included blocking, striking, kicking and weapon drills together with sparring sessions.
The Academy is proud of Year 7 Holyrood student Harvey Harris who was awarded his blue belt and Year 7’s Connor Beckey who achieved his orange belt.
Neil Hazell said: “The students train on Wednesday and Friday each week to learn the key elements required to progress through the grades.
“We also seek to develop their physical skills, self-discipline and personal responsibility using a variety of drills and fun games.
“All the students demonstrated an excellent attitude and worked really hard and thoroughly deserve their success today.”
