MOTORISTS in Chard are being reminded about the dangers of leaving pet dogs inside parked cars during hot summer days.
Dog-lover Judy Gray has enlisted the support of Cllr Amanda Broom, of Chard Town Council, to help raise awareness about the potentially deadly problem by asking local shops and cafes to put up posters about a national RSPCA campaign.
“Most people who leave their dogs in cars don’t realise how quickly heatstroke can affect their beloved pets and if left untreated it can be fatal,” said Judy.
Cllr Broom, who also represents the town at South Somerset District Council, added: “If you see a dog left in a car on a warm day – call the police on 999.
