Three planning applications had been circulated before the February meeting, and the councillors' commented as follows.

The councillors approved of the concept of four B&B units instead of six at the Duke of York, but requested a restriction that the development would be tied to the Duke of York and for B&B only.

A two-storey side extension to 6 Belmont Terrace raised no objections, and an application to vary condition 17 and remove occupancy restriction on the barns at Manor Farm saw mixed feelings. They had not requested the restriction in the first instance, and the applicant had purchased it knowing about the restriction, but wanted it removed a short time later.

Cllr Rippon spoke of a recent district council report on the lengthman scheme, which was proving very successful.

A draft agreement was received from the county council for the replacement trough, which Miss Pearce pointed out was not a horse trough, as per the county council's references. As the site falls within the conservation area, the matter had been passed to Roger Hagley of the Architectural Heritage Group. The clerk would explain that the pump is merely a replacement of one which was stolen and Cllr Hawkins provided a photo.
