TWO people from South Somerset who were initially arrested in connection with the death of a man in his 80s following a fail to stop incident in Bruton, have been released without charge.
The 84-year-old man died following the incident last Tuesday evening when a dark-coloured Chrysler Grand Voyager left the scene without stopping, which led to a police search to find the car and its owner.
On Saturday, police said a man in his 40s and a woman in her 30s from South Somerset were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop at a road traffic collision and failing to report a road traffic collision.
On Monday, the woman was released without charge but the man remained in police custody.
This morning (October 22), a spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said the man had also been released without charge.
The vehicle, a black Chrysler Grand Voyager, remains missing, and police are enquiries are continuing.
Anyone knowing the whereabouts of the vehicle – registration number DS02 NHY – should contact Yeovil CID immediately on the force number, 101.
