In a study for Direct Line DrivePlus, which asked people what measures they thought would improve road safety for young motorists, 53% said drivers aged 17-21 should only be allowed on motorways after racking up significant driving experience.

Some 58% said the number of passengers drivers in this age bracket could take should be limited and 53% said new drivers should have to show a ā€˜Pā€™ Probationary symbol on their car for a period after passing their test.
