A PROJECT giving Chard and Ilminster teenagers nights out over the summer holidays and a CCTV system to improve security in Crewkerne have been given a cash boost.
The grants were awarded last year by Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens’ Community Action Fund.
Project Zero was given £3,000 to organise nights for 13- to 17-year-olds which promote a safe, alcohol-free environment and reduce anti-social behaviour during the school holidays.
Crewkerne Town Council was given £1,995 towards CCTV to improve the response to crime and anti-social behaviour.
Ms Mountstevens said: “We continue to be overwhelmed with the quality and quantity of applications for the fund. I am always delighted to read about the innovative hard work happening in local communities.
“A lot of people have a lot of great ideas about making their communities a place that is safe and feels safe.
“Working together, it’s clear that a lot is being achieved locally, which the fund aims to help recognise and support.”
The Police Community Trust will consider grants for the third quarter at the end of October, and the next deadline for applications is December 1.
