AN INCREDIBLE £4,210 has been donated via the Rotary Club of Chard towards the Philippines typhoon appeal.
Rotarians collected enough money at Tesco and along Fore Street to buy at least six shelter boxes for survivors.
Each box contains a tent, sleeping bags, water purification, cooking equipment, mosquito nets and tools to temporarily rehouse a family of ten.
Rotary president Roger Rollings said: “This is the biggest collection in all 68 years of the club’s existence. We would like to thank the people of Chard for their generosity.”
