PEOPLE in and around the town are being encouraged to sign up to Community £s, an innovative weight loss project in which losing weight directly benefits the community.
The project, led by A Better Crewkerne and District (ABCD) with support from the Healthy Lifestyles Team at South Somerset District Council, Somerset Partnership and NHS Somerset, offers access to discounted exercise classes and opportunities and for every 1lb in weight lost, £1 will go towards the community.
Cllr Sylvia Seal, portfolio holder for leisure and culture at the district council, said: “Community £s has already given us the opportunity to help more than 150 Yeovil and Chard residents to access new and exciting exercise opportunities to become more active, more often.
“I am sure many residents in Crewkerne will benefit from the project.”
Spaces are limited and residents who meet the eligibility criteria are being urged to sign up soon before it is too late – visit www.southsomerset.gov.uk/communitypounds email active@southsomerset.gov.uk or call Charlie on 01935-462347 for more information.
