WHITE Nina Beloved Mother of Katie and Beth, Nanny to Scarlett, much-loved sister of Pamela, and long-time devoted best friend of Claire, passed away at her home on Monday January 4th 2021 aged 67 years. She was pre-deceased by her dear husband Adrian, and her parents Dorothy and James Matthews. Nina lived a full and vibrant life filled with joy and laughter. She was born in Tooting Bec, London, and was an avid horse-rider until her 20s. She and Adrian moved to Chard in 1986 and were very happy here. Nina worked at ActionAid for many years, later the NHS, Bishops Funeral Services, Chard and Ilminster News and Barrington Court. She volunteered for First Chard Brownies as "Snowy Owl" and later founded 3rd Chard (St. Mary's) Brownies, which she ran for 20 years. She acted as Chard District Commissioner, Seavington Division Commissioner and Somerset County Brownie Advisor. She received her 30 year service badge and was recognised for her commitment, dedication and hard work with the Good Service Brooch in 2008. She was incredibly kind and compassionate and loved animals, especially horses, birds and dogs. She was both a foster and full-time "Mum" to many rescued greyhounds. She loved to sing and performed with Tatworth Pantomime for over ten years, playing the lead in Dick Whittington several times before taking on comedy parts and winning high praise from critics. A keen history buff, she volunteered at Chard Museum after retiring. She loved reading, travelling, pub quizzes, visiting National Trust houses, garden centres and going out to dinner with her many friends. Due to the current restrictions, her funeral will be invitation only, a Celebration of Life event to mark Nina's life is planned, once the restrictions have been lifted. Donations to the Greyhound Trust Honiton and Girl Guiding Association in lieu of flowers are requested and may be given through our website at www.bgibbsfuneralservices.co.uk or sent c/o B.
