JOSLIN, Valerie Margaret (BEM) Sadly passed away at home on Monday 17th August after a long battle with illness. Private family funeral to be held at Taunton crematorium at 12noon on Friday 4th September with live public web-stream to Tatworth playing fields pavilion. A small celebration of Val's life to be held at the playing fields afterwards. All welcome with social distancing rules being observed. Family flowers only but donations are welcome to St Margaret's Hospice Care, Taunton c/o J F Clarke & Son Lyme Road, Axminster EX13 5BE Val lived in Tatworth for around 60 years and embraced the local community spirit. She was a governor of the local primary school for around 40 years of which 25 were spent as "chairperson". It was through this devoted voluntary work that Val was awarded a British Empire Medal in 2012. An award she was embarrassed to receive as she was only "helping out" ! Val in later years had very strong links with the local playing fields and was licensee of the pavilion bar since 2006. In earlier years Val was also girl guide leader, member of the local church and the local pantomime society. All this whilst running small local window manufacturing businesses. Val leaves a daughter Carol and a son Stuart and 4 Grandchildren.

Such sad news , Valerie gave me my start in working life at her window business , lovely lady to work for and wonderful lady to know , my thoughts are with her family x

I remember Val well from growing up in the same village and from the local Primary School where I worked. So sorry to hear of her passing. My condolences to her family.
