A COMPACT music festival in Crewkerne next month will raise funds for rescued animals.

Animal lovers are invited to the New Digs For Dogs appeal’s day of music at Haselbury Mill from noon-10.30pm.

The appeal aims to raise £1million to build a new enhanced kennel block, improved grooming and veterinary care room, information hub, social unit, offices, reception and rehoming centre.

Musicians including Phoenix Club, Mandolin Chad, Dinosaur Café, Area 53 and Complete Control are on the line-up for the event for Ferne Animal Sanctuary in Wambrook.

Head of animal care Tara Nirula said: “Different types of music will be played, including pop, folk, country, blues, acoustic, party and indie rock, so it’s suitable for everyone, including families.

“There are 700 tickets for sale. We really hope a great crowd will come along and have a fantastic time.

“The music will be live outside on the bandstand until 10.30pm but if the weather is bad, the event will take place in the Tithe Barn.”

Tickets for the event on Sunday, July 20, cost £5 from Ferne’s shops in Chard and Bridport, the Sanctuary on 01460-65214 and Haselbury Mill on 01460-77095. Admission is free to under-tens.
