ICONIC D-Day aircraft will take to the skies at this year’s RNAS Yeovilton Air Day.

Among the engines featuring in the air and ground display at the event is the twin-engine Douglas C-47 Skytrain/Dakota transport aircraft.

It was deeply involved in the Normandy landings 70 years ago, towing assault gliders and dropping paratroopers into the action.

Spectators will get to see the historic machine fly once more, courtesy of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

Advance tickets for the event on Saturday, July 26, cost less online than if bought on the gate.

They can be booked at www.royalnavy.mod.uk/yeovilton-airday or 08445-781781 and cost £20 for adults and £6 for five to 15-year-olds.

Under-fives get in free.
