MIKE Denham and his Sunset Café Stompers will be getting people moving at Ilminster Arts Centre next week.
The popular traditional jazz band will be playing a whole jazz spectrum from Scott Joplin’s ragtime to Fats Domino and his Rock ’n’ Roll.
The Stompers are immensely popular locally but also much travelled, having been featured across most of the UK from Cornwall to Cumbria.
Sunset Café was a top night spot on Chicago’s infamous South Side, owned by Al Capone.
Louis Armstrong starred there and The Stompers play all kinds of music that was heard there from Irving Berlin to Fats Waller.
The band’s wider repertoire also features songs made famous by artists like Patsy Cline and Elvis.
The concert starts at 8pm on Friday, April 10 and tickets are £14. A preshow supper is available at 7pm for an additional £12.
Call the Arts Centre on 01460-54973.
