THE Ilminster/Chard group’s next meeting on Friday, February 27, at 7.30pm features a presentation entitled Introduced Species: Increased Biodiversity or Conservation Nightmare?
Dr Colin Ryall is a recently retired university lecturer in ecology and environment whose publications and research interests include invasive species.
His illustrated talk will discuss the issues involved as a result of man’s introduction of non-native species to locations outside their native range, their threats to biodiversity and economic impacts.
Global context will be reviewed before focussing on the situation in the UK and Europe and future prospects.
Refreshments will be available and everyone is welcome at the Parish Hall, North Street, Ilminster TA19 0DG. Adult members £2, nonmembers £3.
