THE Magna Carta was described by Lord Denning as ‘the greatest constitutional document of all time, the foundation of the freedom of the individual against the arbitrary authority of the despot’.
But what do most of us know about it or how it affects our everyday lives?
As we celebrate its 800th anniversary, the eminent historian, Professor Mayr-Harting, of Oxford University, will describe and contextualise this remarkable document at a lecture at Dillington House.
Tickets cost £12 for the lecture which begins at 2.30pm on January 18.
