CHARD Guildhall was alive with the sound of music recently, not the musical, but brass music.
Under the heading of Charity Brass Concert, Chard concert and Phoenix, Crewkerne, joined forces to help raise money for the Alzheimer's/Dementia Society.
Each band played a half an hour programme, with music ranging from Madness hit, baggy trousers to MacArther Park before joining together on stage when around fifty musicians provided a great finale to a superb concert, with a heart touching arrangement of Abide with Me, complete with stage lighting.
Representatives, Jill Lock and Claire from Alzheimer's/Dementia society gave an interesting talk about dementia awareness and highlighted how important events like this are. The well attended concert raised a total of £715.
A big thank you goes to Lentells Accountants of Chard for sponsoring the evening, as well as Numatic International, Barleymows, Complete Meats, Pure Beauty, Wendy's Kitchen, Stockers Jewellers, The Eagle Tavern and Lloyds Bank.
