CHARD Town visit sixth-placed Radstock Town on Saturday in their penultimate away Toolstation Western League First Division fixture of the season, writes Colin Dunford.

Then, on Wednesday (May 2), Chard entertain fourth-placed Cheddar at Zembard Lane (7.30pm).

This midweek saw Chard Reserves hold league leaders Colyton to a goalless draw in Division 1 of the Macron Devon & Exeter League.

There is no match at Zembard Lane on Saturday, as Chard Reserves are also away, at Alphington Reserves (3pm).

Chard manager Paul Down said: “It has been a good week, with three wins in seven days, which is never easy in this league.

“We created many opportunities against Oldland Abbotonians and were deserved winners, with James Boyland outstanding with two good finishes and an assist, on the back of a good win at Welton.

“The team is playing with confidence at the moment with no injuries to report.

“Dave Duarte and striker Elliott Bevis, who is on a dual registration with Gillingham, are both available for the Radstock trip.”

However, Taoufik Ben Salem will be missing, serving the second part of a three-match ban.

Boyland is in red-hot form, with five goals in the last six games, bringing his tally for the season to 15 goals.

ILMINSTER Town are looking to avoid a fourth defeat in the space of a week as they travel to Nailsea & Tickenham.

The Blues lost 2-1 at Shirehampton on Tuesday and 5-0 at Watchet Town on Thursday, and it will be another tough assignment this weekend against a side sat fourth in the table.

There is no let up for Town, who then face Middlezoy Rovers on Tuesday, May 1.

In Division 1W, Combe St Nicholas play for the first time in three weeks as they travel to leaders Somerton Town.
